The original HipNotions sewing tool belt had a velcro pin cushion. A back stage costumer needed something quiet without the ripping sound of velcro-
January 2014- Maintenance at HipNotions Tool Belts "The Clunking Sound"
I had neglected to clean and oil this little gem of a sewing machine I found a garage sale for five dollars! It is always set up with black thread to sew on all the belt webbing onto the tool belts as well as velcro tape loops, swivel clasps and cord locks.
Rather than using a long bristle brush I am now using a small circular tiny brush to pull out all the accumulated lint. Also a screw driver is needed to get at all the parts to clean- the feed dogs and bobbin casing under the feed dogs.
After the cleaning--oil according to machine instructions.
End product--no clunking sounds and the fabric can more easily be grabbed by the feed dogs! I really need to do this about every 2 - 3 bobbins worth of sewing!
Yes, I know I have neglected blogging this timely event but I thought I would post it anyway. http://iteach16kids.blogspot.com/2013/09/spectacular-september-blog-give-away.html
It has been a very busy 2013 with changes in the air for 2014!

Real working cowgirls in ND wanted something more styling to hold syringes, ear tags, gloves and other things. So what started as the gardening HipNotions tool belt has now become the ranch hand!
Katie, a librarian in Portland, OR wrote about pen envy and how the HipNotions Tool Belt came to the rescue! Thanks Katie!
From Drawing Board to Work
A landscaper was unable to find exactly find the right tool pouch for work. He found me online, we emailed, I drew, I photographed, I sewed, I mailed, he photographed, he emailed....."the two prototypes are exactly what I had envisioned"
So now the prototypes are at work. Stay tuned for the tweaking or not of the design.
Thanks to SchulmanArt for posting my interview. And most of all guiding me through the process with good instruction. Yes, I am a fledgling in this social media jungle. Perhaps with more practice, trial and error it will all take flight.
The HipNotions Tool Belts seem to be never ending with new designs or modifications to existing designs. Sometimes, a completely new one pops up in which I go to the drawing board!
It all starts when someone has scoured my Etsy shop for what they are looking for. Then they notice I do custom work. They contact me. Lots of emails are exchanged or occasionally a phone conversation. Remember that historical artifact?
So a landscaper has hired me to make two prototypes to test drive. This is one of several drawings before the final goes to the cutting table.
This one will slip onto an existing leather belt. It will most likely become part of my shop inventory!
